Banbury Crossroads School

About

Banbury Crossroads School has a self-directed learning program with small classes (1/10 ratio) from JK-12. Students take ownership, initiate learning, develop character and engage in community. This is all accomplished through its caring, familial atmosphere that reduces anxiety and fosters learning to mastery. The Alberta Program of Studies is taught through individual and small group instruction, project and inquiry-based learning, many field trips, volunteering and internships. At the secondary level, internships provide students opportunities to contribute to community organizations and are initiated by an interest of the student. All students develop strong skills in decision making, communication and negotiation. ESL students and gifted students are easily accommodated. We prepare students for post-secondary by helping them set goals, organize time, seek assistance, develop autonomy, and embrace their passions. They become advocates for themselves and for their community.
