Southview Child Care has been operated by First Mennonite Church since 1975 and was originally known as McKernan Park Day Care. When First Mennonite moved to their new location, the program went along and became known as Southview Child Care.
We are an inclusive early learning and child care program and our center offers care to children aged 19 months to six years of age. We have an on-site kindergarten program and are able to provide PUF and Mild/Moderate funding to children aged 2 years, 9 months, and up.
We are alumni of the ASaP Continuum Project and have implemented the Pyramid Teaching Model program-wide. Currently, we are implementing Flight, Alberta’s Early Learning Curriculum Framework.
We work together with other agencies to ensure the needs of all the children and families are met.
We believe that parents are a child’s first teacher, the educators are the second teacher, and the school environment is the third teacher."
