Yellowhead Koinonia Christian School

About

"We are an independent Evangelical Christian school that serves Edson and the surrounding community by offering an accredited Alberta education that is distinctively Christian. The school was founded on the principle that parents are responsible for the education and training of their children and this continues to be a focal point of our operation. YKCS has a biblical Statement of Faith that all staff, at least one parent from each family, and students agree to and support. At the same time, accreditation requires that we base instruction on Alberta Education’s curricular outcomes, essential knowledge, and skills so that students who successfully graduate from YKCS will receive an Alberta High School Diploma."We are an independent Evangelical Christian school that serves Edson and the surrounding community by offering an accredited Alberta education that is distinctively Christian. YKCS is parent-owned and parent-operated with parental involvement in all aspects of school operation. Each year members in good standing with the Society elect parents and community members who are local Christians with school connections working and living in the Edson community. The Board is responsible for formulating the policies that control the school’s programs and operations. The board aligns its policies to work in harmony with the policies and administrative guidelines of Alberta Education and Koinonia Christian Education Society. The Principal is responsible for communicating and implementing these policies. The board is self-perpetuating and usually has around six members.
We believe that the authority for education comes from God’s command that children be taught to love God and to place Him first in their lives"
